Counting down in real time
This tool shows how much time is left until your next birthday. It is handy for planning a party, building anticipation for a child's big day, or simply satisfying curiosity. You can also use it for any yearly date, such as an anniversary.
Suppose someone was born on 15 March 1990. If today is 26 October 2026, their next birthday is 15 March 2027, which is 140 days away, and they will be turning 37. The countdown keeps ticking until midnight at the start of 15 March.
The calculator finds the next date that matches your birth month and day. If this year's date has already passed, it uses next year's. It then measures the time from the current moment to midnight at the start of that date, using the time zone set on your device. If you travel or change your device's time zone, the countdown will adjust accordingly.
People born on 29 February have a real birthday only in leap years. In other years this tool treats 1 March as the birthday, matching the age calculator on this site. If you prefer to celebrate on 28 February, you can enter that date instead.
The bar shows how far you are through the current birthday year, from your last birthday to the next one. It starts empty on the day of a birthday and fills up as the next one approaches.

It finds the next occurrence of your birth month and day, then counts the time remaining from the current moment to midnight at the start of that day, using your device's local time zone. The days, hours, minutes and seconds update every second.
The countdown shows a celebration message instead of counting down, along with the age you turn today. The next day it switches to counting down to next year's birthday.
In years that are not leap years, the countdown treats 1 March as the birthday, which is the same convention used by the age calculator on this site. In leap years it counts down to 29 February.
